Stating that Denktaş was a great leader and statesman recognized by the world, Savaşan pointed out that it should always be remembered that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was established with the political role played by Denktaş, the prices paid by the Turkish Cypriot people and the strong support of Motherland Turkey.

In 2020, Savaşan stated that the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus is still determined not to share the administration and wealth with the Turkish Cypriot People and emphasized that the current mentality of the Greek Cypriot leadership prevents the establishment of a federal partnership based on sharing in Cyprus in the near future.
